​After their meal, Rylee returned to the facility with the others. She wandered the hallways, listening to the scientists, students, and the others who worked with those who tested their experiments, improved the creations they worked on for Lucie and Elly, and advanced technology for those who lived in Ellyville.

​Sometimes Rylee stopped, adding her thoughts to the projects involving chemicals and how the scientists blended them together. This was something Rylee missed, having neglected her laboratory in the apartment building. Once the scientists overcame her strange appearance, they listened to what Rylee had to say.

​She was in a laboratory when Evie found her. Rylee looked at the android who stood next to her as she finished adding drops of purple liquid to a red one. The hissing sound coming from the beaker as the liquid bubbled caused Rylee to smile. This was what she thought would happen, unless the liquids exploded when they reacted to one another.

​“What can I do for you, Evie?” Rylee pushed her safety glasses to the top of her head, pushing strands of her black hair out of the way. “It appears you have something pressing to discuss.”

​“I do, Rylee. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts about an offer I'm about to make.”

​Rylee nodded as she added a yellow liquid to the mixture which turned a deeper red. “I'm listening.”

​“Good. I know you have properties around Ellyville. I'm here to offer you another. Would you be willing to live in the building where Ellison does? There's an empty apartment across from hers you could claim as yours. There's enough room for Skylar to join you. I know you won't leave your sister, unless Skylar desires to live alone. I know she did when she was a doctor and before her disease forced her to live with you.”

​Swirling the beaker, Rylee watched the mixture coat the glass. She frowned as the hissing continued. Rylee's expression increased as she shook the beaker with a weak movement. The hissing disturbed her, and the way the liquid coated the interior caused Rylee to worry. “I'll move in. However, I have one stipulation.”

​“You want a laboratory in the building.”

​Rylee glanced away from where she stared at the mixture, seeing how it softened the glass. “Correct. I should have realized you'd know what I wanted before I said anything.” Rylee wrapped her darkness around the beaker moments before the liquid escaped the beaker. “Shit. It's alive.”

​“I am an artificial intelligence designed to keeps Elly's schedule and take care of her needs. It should be obvious I know what you desire before you do. You need to understand the new life-form you created is invasive. If you don't destroy it, the mold will cover Ellyville within a week. It will also melt everything it touches.”

​“You have an excellent point about how you know what we need before we do.” Rylee poked the black sphere she wrapped around the mold. “Shit. All right. Don't tell Elly what I did, okay? She'll be upset with me if she learns I created a life-form whose goal is to devour everything.
